Severe Weather Awareness Week is a time for the National Weather Service to test communications systems. Severe weather season is just around the corner, and now is the time to prepare yourself and your family for events such as tornadoes, hail storms, flooding, etc.
The National Weather Service has three reminders:
1. Know your risk: Severe weather can be deadly for those who are unprepared.
2. Take action: Be ready, have a tornado plan. Know what to do if lightning becomes a hazard or if flooding is threatening.
3. Be a force of nature: Look for ways to help in your community to make sure everyone is prepared.
